Support for GPs

In addition to the support that the LMC can offer to GPs relating to their work and contracts there are other sources of help available to GPs in distress.

House Concern

A service for Doctors working in the Northern Deanery.

House Concern offers a confidential, individual psychotherapy service to doctors with psychological or emotional problems. Doctors may self-refer by phoning the above number or may be referred by their GP.

The LMC are prepared to fund up to six sessions of counselling for any GP working in the area who needs to talk in confidence with a skilled practitioner, to explore their issues and make whatever decisions are necessary for improved quality of life.

BMA Counselling Service (24hr/day 7 days a week)

The BMA offer a 24/7 counselling service which any doctor can access for any problem. You can remain anonymous if you wish and the service is also available to family members living in the same household including children up to the age of 21even if they are at University.
